1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of majorpays.com, operated by MajorPays LLC, a Missouri limited liability company (“MajorPays,” “we”). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. See also our Privacy Policy.

2. MajorPays does not provide advice

MajorPays does not provide advice. It provides general educational and informational content about colleges, majors, careers, pay and costs. Nothing on this site is career, educational, financial, legal or tax advice, and using it does not create any professional relationship. Decisions about where to study, what to study, how to borrow, or where to work are yours. Please check important facts with the school, the employer, or the government agency concerned.

3. Data and accuracy

Most figures come from U.S. government and other public sources, listed with their terms on our Data sources page. Some figures are our own calculations from public data (for example, medians computed from Census survey records), and some pages combine sources. Data can be incomplete, delayed, revised, or wrong, and we may make mistakes in selecting, matching or presenting it. Averages and medians describe groups, not any one person, and survey-based figures carry sampling error: small differences, including differences in rank, may not be meaningful. We provide the site and its data “as is” and do not guarantee that any figure is complete, current or error-free.

4. No affiliation or endorsement

MajorPays is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any government agency, school, college, university, publisher or employer. Their names and data are used only to identify the source of information. A listing, label or news item on MajorPays (including our own judgments such as “In our data” and “Could be added”) does not mean that any of them recommends MajorPays, and does not imply any statement by them about what we show.

5. Third-party data and licenses

Data from third parties remains subject to its own license or terms (for example, Creative Commons Attribution for College Scorecard and O*NET). If you reuse data you find through MajorPays, you are responsible for following the terms of the original source. See Data sources for each dataset.

6. Our content

The design, text, compilations, and our own calculations on MajorPays belong to MajorPays or its licensors. You may view the site, link to it, and quote short excerpts with credit and a link. The files offered on our Downloads page may be used and shared free of charge, with credit to the original agencies named in the README that comes with each file (and, if you like, to MajorPays); please keep the credit and notices in that README. MajorPays claims no rights in the underlying government data, and nothing in these terms limits any right you have under a source's own license or public-domain status (for example Creative Commons Attribution for College Scorecard and O*NET). Other than those files, please do not copy or republish MajorPays' own text, design and calculations, or our compiled pages, in bulk, or collect them with automated tools at a rate that burdens the site, without written permission. To ask permission, write to founder@majorpays.com.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use the site unlawfully, try to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to it, interfere with other visitors, or misrepresent your relationship with MajorPays.

8. Tools that load your files

Tools on this site that let you load your own file (for example a department’s CSV) process it in your browser. The file is not sent to MajorPays. You are responsible for the data you choose to load.

9. Links to other sites

The site links to other websites, including those of government agencies and schools. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability or policies.

10. Corrections and removal requests

If you believe something on MajorPays is wrong, out of date, unfairly presented, or should not appear, please tell us at founder@majorpays.com. Include the page address and what you would like changed, and the source if you can. We review requests promptly and will correct errors and consider reasonable requests for changes or removal. Rights holders may use the same address to raise a concern about content.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MajorPays is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MajorPays and its owners, officers, contractors and licensors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of income, opportunity or data, arising from your use of or reliance on the site, even if advised of the possibility. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the use that gave rise to the claim (which for free use is zero) and one hundred U.S. dollars. Some places do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13. Changes

We may change the site or these terms at any time. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version; continued use after a change means you accept it.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Missouri, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
