Who runs MajorPays
MajorPays is an independent, free website operated by MajorPays LLC and run by its founder. It is not part of any college, employer, or government agency, and no school pays to appear on it or to change how it appears.
What it does
Students and families often cannot find out, in one place, what graduates of a given major or school actually earn, what they owe, what a school costs, and what jobs and wages look like where they would live. MajorPays puts those public numbers side by side: earnings and debt by school and field of study, wages and job growth by career, college costs over time, and local conditions for every state and for the counties, cities, metropolitan areas and ZIP codes with enough data.
Everything comes from U.S. government sources, including the Department of Education (College Scorecard and IPEDS), the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Census Bureau, the Bureau of Economic Analysis and O*NET. Each page names its sources, and the Data sources page lists them all with the terms that allow reuse. How it works explains what MajorPays calculates itself and what the numbers do not tell you.
Principles
- No rankings of schools or places. Lists are alphabetical or sortable by you, so no one is told which school is “best”.
- Only public government data that may be reused, with the source shown. No personal data about individuals.
- Plain limits. Small groups are hidden, estimates are labeled as estimates, and nothing here is professional advice.
- Independent funding. The site is free to use and is supported by advertising; ads never change what data is shown.
Corrections
If a number looks wrong, or you are from a school and want something reviewed, contact us. Errors are checked against the source and fixed.
